NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A judge has ordered a halt to disciplinary proceedings against a police inspector pending a judicial review hearing.

Inspector Garvin Evans alleges that the police commissioner failed to follow procedures concerning the discipline of an officer at the rank of Inspector and above.

Evans is facing disciplinary action for allegedly breaching COVID-19 travel restrictions by not producing a vaccination card and negative Antigen test before he boarded a charter flight from Grand Bahama to Andros in 2022.

Justice Carla Card-Stubbs granted for judicial review and ordered the disciplinary proceedings stayed until the matter is decided or the court makes another order.

However, the stay will be lifted if Evans’ lawyers don’t take steps to begin the proceedings within 14 days.
