NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Prosecutors have dropped a murder case against a man who claimed he had an alibi.

Javaughn Charlton, 27, was arrested and charged in the killing of Michael Beckford, who was fatally shot while getting a haircut at a barbershop on Baillou Hill Road on April 3, 2022.

After awaiting trial for more than three years, the case was withdrawn.

Charlton had maintained his innocence, claiming he was “locked down” with his girlfriend at a motel when the murder took place.
