IRAN – Protests over soaring prices and a rapidly falling currency are spreading across Iran, entering a third day of unrest.

Demonstrations erupted after shopkeepers in Tehran’s Grand Bazaar went on strike when the Iranian rial hit a record low against the U.S. dollar.

The BBC reports verified videos show protests in several cities, with police using tear gas to disperse crowds.

Iran’s president says he has ordered talks with representatives of the protesters, accepted the resignation of the central bank governor, and promised to address economic concerns.

University students have also joined the demonstrations, chanting anti-government slogans, as international observers voice concern and warn of rising regional tensions.
