Rastafarian Tams No Longer Required In School

JAMAICA – Male Rastafarian students in Jamaica will no longer be required to wear tams to cover their dreadlocks while in classes.

While addressing the 59th annual conference of the Jamaica Teachers Association (JTA), Education Minister Fayval Williams said the measure would most likely go into effect this new academic term.

She told the conference the new directive is a part of a new draft of the dress and grooming policy which is set to be published ahead of the new academic year.
