Ryan Reckley Goes 3-3, Hits His First Home Run in Single A

UNITED STATES – Ryan Reckley busted out of a slump in a big way on Sunday.

The San Francisco Giants Farmhand hit .068 with a .257 OPS since his promotion to San Jose nearly two weeks ago.

With any promotion to a tougher league, an initial drop-off is expected. And Reckley’s numbers were way down from the elite .283 average and .939 OPS he put up at his previous stop in the Arizona Complex League, but Reckley had a perfect Sunday afternoon, going 3-3 from the plate with a single, a double and his first home run with the team to help them get a narrow 7-6 win over the Stockton Ports.

Reckley’s home run was a 2-run jam in the third inning to put the Giants up 2-0 on Stockton. Aside from his big fly, he also showed off his ability to play “small ball” reaching base on a bunt single in the 7th with runners on first and second, scoring on a subsequent home run by his teammate Bo Davidson.

Reckley is still early in his tenure in Single-A, but if his Sunday afternoon is any indication of how he will perform at this level, don’t expect him to be here very long.
