While this is good news for the island, the head of the COVID-19 Task Force is sharing alarming statistics on COVID hospitalizations.

The country is in week seven of the fourth wave, and at this point, Grand Bahama is experiencing record hospitalizations, according to head of the Grand Bahama Covid-19 Task Force Dr. Frank Bartlett.

There is also a challenge as it relates to staff in the healthcare system..

Minister for Grand Bahama Ginger Moxey expressed her excitement to be partnering with the Ministry of Health and Wellness to bring free Covid testing to Grand Bahama. While Christ the King Hall is the first center to facilitate the testing, she says other sites will open across the island.

Dr. Bartlett adding that the Christ the King hall will only facilitate rapid antigen tests and anyone presenting with symptoms or requiring PCR tests must visit a private facility.
