NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Truck driver Mark Turnquest gives his reaction to an industrial accident that resulted in the death of a fellow colleague Thursday night.

At daybreak, Our News returned to the fill site to find volunteers, heavy machine operators, and police attached to the Carmichael Road Police Station on scene.

Against the background of heavy machinery, crews were moving with extreme caution, hoping to collect whatever remains they could.

The mood is somber, as men who would normally be starting their daily routines stood by in disbelief at reality set in.

Turnquest identified the victim as Kingsley Dean, describing him as a skilled operator and a well-respected colleague.

Mark Turnquest – Truck Driver

“ I know him from coming out on the job site, and I don’t, wouldn’t, wouldn’t class him as a mean person, a rude person.”

“He always easygoing, someone you could talk to you know, ask for help if the truck overloaded. He always was easy to talk to. I never get no bad vibrations of him,  never once even see him mad, and I knew him for a couple of good years”

Last night’s tragic discovery isn’t the end to this story, as officials say the next step is an investigation into how things went terribly wrong at this site.
