GRAND BAHAMA, BAHAMAS – The Bahamas Red Cross in Grand Bahama is now in a new building.

Their former building was 60 years old before it was demolished.

The building received significant damage from Hurricanes Matthew and Dorian and was no longer sufficient prompting international partners to step in and assist.

After Hurricane Dorian the international federation and other international partners of the Red Cross were all on the ground assisting with the needs on the island.

Bahamas Red Cross administrator, Stephanie Barr says following the major storm, it was the Canadian Red Cross that decided they would assist them with a new building.

They were relocated during the construction of the new building but she says this new building has assisted greatly in their efforts for the community.

She also shared some of the programs offered to the public.
