NASSAU, BAHAMAS – CARICOM countries banning together once again in hopes of finding a way to help haiti and its ongoing issues. At a meeting next month, a group of former prime minister’s will be a part of the discussions.

Political and economic instability in Haiti is set to take center stage yet again as CARICOM is set to meet to address the issue.

Foreign Affairs Minister Fred Mitchell telling Our News CARICOM is appointing an eminent persons group.

Mitchell says the discussions will include the guarantee of security needed to allow Haitians to vote safely.

Mitchell says a few locations were offered but it was decided, the meeting will be held in Jamaica.

He says its hoped that both Prime Minister Philip Davis and Jamaican Prime Minister Andrew Holness will attend the meeting.

Haiti has found itself in an economic slump that continuously worsened after its president was assassinated back in July 2021.

Following the assassination, there was a drastic uptake in Haitian nationals leaving the country.

The ongoing crisis there prompted CARICOM to hold a meeting in The Bahamas in hopes of coming up with a resolution.

The meeting in Jamaica is just another step in bringing some sort of stability to Haiti.
