NASSAU, BAHAMAS – In May 1996, 110 people were killed when ValuJet Flight 592 caught fire and plunged into Florida’s Everglades; among them was a Bahamian couple, who left behind a grieving family.

Angel Adderley describes the unmeasurable shock and pain she and her siblings experienced after losing her parents – Lucille and Maxwell Newbold – 27 years ago.

On May 11th, 1996 ValuJet flight Flight 592 plunged into the Florida Everglades on Mother’s Day weekend killing all 110 passengers and crew members after the plane plunged into the everglades while trying to make an emergency return to Miami International Airport.

It’s a day Adderley says she will never forget. Nineteen at the time, the now 46-year-old says she was at work when she got the call everyone dreads.

Adderley says the trip was gifted by one of her brothers for Mother’s Day and her parents were headed to visit another brother for Parents’ Week at Morehouse College.

After the tragedy, Adderley says there was a void in her life from losing her father who was a silent supporter and her mother who was her best friend.

But as the years went by, life would go on and she would start a family of her own, getting married, having two sons and gaining loving in laws.

And as she continues to raise her own family, she says the memories of her parents are never far from her mind.

As Adderley and dozens of other families continue to cope with the tragedy, there is still one missing piece to this puzzle there is still $10,000 for information on the run away aircraft mechanic connected to that ValuJet flight.
