NASSAU, BAHAMAS – November 11th is Remembrance Day for our Bahamian veterans, but the British Legion Bahamas Branch held an intimate service this morning at The Bahamas Veterans Cemetery to start the big week’s events.

Members of the British Legion, Descendants of Veterans, and The Royal Bahamas Defense Force gathered at The Bahamas Veterans Cemetery on infant view road this morning to pay their respects to our country’s war heroes.

Chairman of the British Legion Bahamas Branch, Adina Munroe-Charlow told us more about the tradition of remembering those who fought in the great wars of the 20th century.

The British Legion Bahamas Branch is the caretaker of our country’s remaining veterans and the widows of the fallen.

Their poppy sales help to cover the costs of pensions and grocery deliveries to those under their care.

This morning’s service is just the beginning of this weeks remembrance events.

Chairman Munroe-harlow’s ties to the British Legion have deep roots, and she hopes to be able to pass on the responsibility and the care to future generations.
