NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Police are stepping up their efforts to keep the Downtown area safe for both residents and tourists, and they say part of that effort includes clearing the streets of vagrants and beggars.

But what happens after the vagrants are picked up?

We asked Commander for the Central Division Chief Superintendent Kenrid Neely to share what the process is after some of the island’s vulnerable are removed from the streets.

He tells us it’s ultimately up to the courts, and social services.
