GRAND BAHAMA, BAHAMAS – A freak accident on Grand Bahama’s Fishing Hole Road sending a man to hospital with serious injuries on Monday.

This latest incident is once again highlighting issues to that roadway.

Holmes Rock Resident Jerome Russell Responding to the latest crash on Monday night on the service road near the Fishing Hole Road Causeway.

On the scene, Monday night, a gray Chevy Cobalt flipped over, and the driver had to be taken to hospital for serious injuries. Our News understands he is in stable condition.

This accident once again prompting residents to call on government to fix the Fishing Hole Road Causeway which closed earlier this year following multiple car accidents.

A service road is now open to the public but according to residents, that road isn’t sufficient.

On Monday, Our News spoke with David Cox, senior engineer for the Family Islands at the Ministry of Works. Cox confirmed that following their assessment, officials discovered the skid resistance on the causeway as not up to standard. The ministry has plans to repave the causeway with asphalt in two weeks.
