Restaurant’s Post Sparks Public Debate on Hair Bonnets In Public

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A local café’s Facebook post announcing it will not allow customers wearing hair bonnets inside its doors has sparked debate over what is and isn’t appropriate to wear in public.

In the post, Cafe Channing Noelle made clear that hair bonnets would no longer be welcomed inside, a move they say aligns with the establishment’s standard of dress and dining experience.

The cafe has since deleted that post but not before it sent people into a frenzy.

I reached out to one of the owners, Loretta Thomas to find out what led to this bold stance, but she declined to comment.

“Ladies should have a right to bear what they want, but also I think establishments might want to set the standard, so that’s probably why they said that,” one resident told Our News.

Another resident called it “ghetto.”

“And they lack like, I don’t know, just decency,” they said. “You shouldn’t wanna be out the house with a bonnet on and lets you go in and get your hair do.”

Another resident also chimed in on the issue saying that they didn”t agree either.

“I don’t agree with persons wearing bonnets outside of homes,” the resident said. I do believe, again, it’s a nighttime wear that person’s wear. It should be on at home. Um, however, at the same token, that is her place of business. So how she finds fit to run it, is completely on her. “
