NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The month of October is observed as Breast Cancer awareness month and one survivor is sharing her story of triumph as well as the harsh reality of the disease.

Rika Cargill better known as Rika C says she’s now in survival mode.

If you see Rika rocking her pink you would have no idea of the battles she’s faced.

The Breast Cancer survivor was diagnosed with stage three Breast Cancer on August 24th 2012.

The mother of three is now in remission.

She says she’s now in survival mode – focusing on being physically, mentally and spiritually fit.

Looking back on the day she was diagnosed and the fight to remission – Rika says it can only be compared to a hurricane.

Rika found out about her cancer just weeks after the birth of her son.

It was a devastating blow during what should have been a time of celebration and bonding, but she says her kids kept her going through grueling chemo sessions and surgery.

Rika has no problem sharing her journey and admits she is sometimes surprised when people reach out to her.

Now the business owner, model, radio host and cancer advocate is doing her part to help those in the fight against cancer. Here’s how you can help.

During the month of October, Rika is encouraging women and men to get screened for Breast Cancer.
