NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Rodney Moncur has been hired as an independent contractor in the Ministry of National Security, and not as a consultant. The word coming from the national security chief who Jared Higgs tells us is on the defense over criticism about Moncur’s hiring.

National Security Minister Wayne Munroe says he is still waiting to see Moncur’s contract to find out exactly how much he will be earning. Some have criticized the decision to engage Moncur, citing his tone and controversial statements he makes on women’s issues.

Last week, Director of Communications in OPM Latrae Rahming confirmed reports that Moncur was engaged as a crime consultant.

Rahming said the move was justifiable due to Moncur’s extensive knowledge of inner-city communities.

Munroe was asked about Moncur’s qualifications today.

But Munroe also appeared regularly on Moncur’s talk show host as a guest before becoming Minister of National Security.

Last week Rahming was asked about the conflict and said key persons were needed to engage communities on crime.

Munroe says it’s something that the major political parties agreed to years ago.
