SAN SALVADOR – Potential Tropical Storm Nine, formerly Invest 94L, is making its way through the South East Bahamas, residents are now closely monitoring the weather.

We’ve been tracking the system for several days – mostly unsure of what it will develop into, but forecasters predict the southerly islands could experience tropical depression conditions as early as tonight or in the morning…

Here in San Salvador, Island Administrator Francis Barr tell’s us they’re on high alert.

It’s hard not to think back to Hurricane Joaquin back in 2015, that started as a small disturbance then ballooned into a powerful storm overnight, impacting this very community.

Barr tells us while she hopes this isn’t a repeat of 2015, there are several shelters ready to be mobilized if necessary.

The mood on the ground could be described as optimistically cautious, as residents go about their business as usual.

A Bahamas Power & Light worker spent the day placing shutters on the windows of the main office.

Some residents were also buying last-minute groceries, and others could be seen filling up their gas tanks and containers at the service station.
