NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Taylor Casey, a 41-year-old from Chicago, was attending a month-long yoga retreat at the Sivananda Ashram Yoga Retreat in The Bahamas, but she hasn’t been seen or heard from in eight days, leaving her family with more questions than answers.

Taylor’s family is now in The Bahamas helping search for her. Her mother met with top officials at the Criminal Investigation Department of the Royal Bahamas Police Force Wednesday afternoon.

Her mother told CBS News that the family is deeply concerned, noting it’s unlike Taylor to go so long without contacting them. She last spoke to Taylor on June 19 and was alerted to her disappearance by a troubling call from the retreat’s organizers.

I visited the retreat site on Paradise Island with Our News cameraman Arjay Newbold. It was only a 5-minute boat ride from Nassau Harbour. There was not much activity at the site, but we were approached by a retreat employee.

In a Facebook post, the Sivananda Ashram Yoga Retreat Bahamas urged anyone with information on Ms. Casey’s whereabouts to contact the local police immediately.

The case has grabbed international headlines, with major U.S. networks like CNN, NBC, and ABC reporting on the matter.

Meanwhile, police held their first press conference Wednesday afternoon since Taylor went missing, providing an update on the case.

Taylor Casey’s disappearance comes as The Bahamas is under a State Department travel advisory, issued in January, due to an increase in crime.
