SERZ Order Will Not Be Extended

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The Disaster Reconstruction Authority Special Economic Recovery Zones or SERZ order 2022 which expires December 1, will not be extended.

The Ministry of Grand Bahama said, that Grand Bahama and Abaco residents, who are still recovering and rebuilding from hurricane Dorian, can submit applications for exemptions to the ministry and the Office of the Prime Minister in Marsh Harbour, Abaco, for review.

The ministry says applications will be approved on a case- by-case basis.

Meanwhile the Free National Movement shadow minister for Finance Kwasi Thompson describing government’s decision as heartless.

SERZ came into effect July 2021, after hurricane Dorian left behind a trail of destruction on Abaco and Grand Bahama.
