NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Workers at The Bahamas Humane Society we’re in for a shocking surprise when they came to work on February 2nd.

One of their animal ambulances was vandalized.

Video shows the inside completely gutted, with parts of the interior missing.

Shelter Manager Percy Grant says it was so bad that the insurance company originally wrote off the vehicle, but it’s now in for repairs.

“We’ve never had anything like this happen to us before. And particularly, as you see in the footage, the degree to which this person took the time to dismantle the entire ignition and dashboard area, it was skillful, obviously.”

The Humane Society has been a staple in the community for over one hundred years, providing care for animals.

And as a non-profit organization, it relies on donations from residents and corporate Bahamas.

Grant says all of their assets are extremely valuable to them.

“We have to do a lot of animal rescues, if it’s an emergency, like an animal hit by a car, we are here. So this has really crippled us. Right now, we are depending on a small van, which is not suitable. Thankfully, we also have the assistance of one of our members who has a side business with a AAA ambulance service and helps us in serious situations.”

“Whoever you are, be conscious of what you’ve done. You have crippled a situation where we could have saved the life of an animal. And now, because of your cruel intent, we can’t respond as we should, and certainly not in a timely fashion.”

“It’s a bit daunting because we work so hard and do so much for the general public. We couldn’t imagine something like this happening. Obviously, we won’t be parking the bus in front of the building anymore. We’re just going to try our best and hope we get back on our feet.”
