ECUADOR – In Ecuador, sniffer dogs uncovered 6.23 tonnes of cocaine hidden in a banana shipment destined for Germany, valued at $224 million.

The discovery, made during a routine inspection, led to the arrest of five individuals, including an export company representative and managers from the banana plantation suspected of involvement.

Ecuador has increasingly become a transit hub for cocaine from Peru and Colombia to Europe and the US, with significant drug seizures by security forces in recent years.
