NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A sixth grader is making waves this week after what started out as a small school initiative turned into a community-wide project that helped raise thousands.

She told Our News it was only meant to be a school-wide initiative at first, but members of the community quickly jumped onboard.

Donations went to Nyla’s church, St. Agnes and The Bahamas Feeding Network.

The sixth grader credits her mother for showing her the importance of taking care of your community.

And Nyla told us she wants “Stamp out Hunger” to become an annual initiative.
