NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Officials from the Department of Social Services say they’re on high alert when it comes to the uptick in runaway cases.

The latest, 10-year-old who was reported missing last week. Our News was there when he returned home the next morning.

Acting Director Charlame Fernander says they’re disturbed.

When it comes to why minors run away and being returned home, the department says they’re guided by the Child Protection Act.

And should you spot a missing child? Officials say you should call the police, and if you know the child personally, contact the family and Social Services.
