JAMAICA – Help is on the ground in Jamaica Friday, as a Spanish mobile field hospital begins treating patients in Falmouth, including a childbirth on day one.

The facility deployed with European Union and Pan American Health Organization support, is providing 24-hour emergency care, surgery, and inpatient services.

This comes after Hurricane Melissa damaged five major hospitals and dozens of clinics.

More than 70 medical professionals are working side-by-side with Jamaican teams.

PAHO says the effort shows “global solidarity in action,” as repairs continue and health services across the island slowly come back online.
