NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Sports Minister Mario Bowleg said he is confident that come Easter, The Bahamas will host the 2024 CARIFTA Aquatics Games.

His comments came at the official launch for CARIFTA Aquatics 2024.

I asked 2023 CARIFTA Aquatics Captain Marvin Johnson and 2023 CARIFTA Aquatics member Elle Theberge about practicing in a 25-meter pool versus practicing in the 50-meter pool at Betty Kelly Kenning.

And while the minister didn’t provide an overall cost for preparation and hosting the games, Bahamas Aquatics President Algernon Cargill says they need $1 millon.

University Sports

From cross country, basketball, soccer, volleyball and other disciplines, UB athletics stayed in our sports this year.

But for UB Athletics Director Kimberley Rolle, it was the things that happened behind the scenes that she’s most proud of.

She says having full-time coaches impacts the university’s recruiting base and program development.

She also spoke about athletic policies.

Then there is student athlete insurance.
