NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Sports Minister Mario Bowleg expressed his disappointment that the Auditor General’s report on the 50th CARIFTA Games was not presented to him while in the House of Assembly Wednesday.

The report was tabled in parliament last week.

Bowleg says the Davis administration has been transparent as he tabled the financial statements for the games.

The 2023 CARIFTA Games were held here in The Bahamas last April. The 23-page audit covered the period from September 1st, 2022 to April 30th, 2023 and was conducted by Auditor General Terrance Bastian.

The audit found a deficit of $829,000, documents presented did not indicate the 2023 CARIFTA Games Company was registered correctly, among other discrepancies.

CEO of the Local Organizing Committee for CARIFTA50, Lynden Maycock shared exclusively with Our News last week that he was not in agreement with the audit and he wanted the prime minister to intervene.
