ST. KITTS & NEVIS – Authorities in St. Kitts and Nevis say they have uncovered an illegal marriage ring, raising concerns about the possibility of the twin-island federation being used for human trafficking.

Prime Minister Dr. Terrance Drew, who is also Minister of National Security and Immigration, telling Parliament the illegal marriages involved individuals from the Spanish community, and allows them to be granted citizenship and voting rights.

Drew says while some of the marriages may be genuine, other individuals involved have been abusing the system to gain money.
