NASSAU, BAHAMAS – It’s a question many families quietly ask – when should a young girl make her first visit to the OBGYN?

For some, it’s tied to fear or uncertainty, but for doctors like Obstetrician and Gynecologist Dr. Agatha Mackey who’s been in the field for some 15 years, it’s about education, comfort, and trust from an early age.

“I think parents should have the conversation from as early as 6.”

With that in mind, Dr. Mackey created “My First Gynae Visit,” a program designed specifically for adolescent girls.

Dr. Mackey says the goal is simple, it’s all about making sure young girls are comfortable and prepared.
