FRANCE – Protests against the French government’s plans to raise the retirement age have little effect on the energy sector, at least so far.

Back on January 19th, a nationwide day of strikes saw a steep fall in power production.

More than a million people marched through French cities on January 19th, a second nationwide strike is planned for January 31st.

The government lacks a majority in parliament to get the votes needed to push through the pension reform.
