SICILY, ITALY – Specialist divers surveying the wreckage of the $40 million superyacht that sank off Sicily last month are asking for heightened security to guard the vessel. They are concerned that sensitive data locked in watertight safes may interest foreign governments.

Italian prosecutors have opened a criminal probe into multiple charges, including manslaughter and negligent shipwreck. The sunken vessel, lying at a depth of around 164 feet, is believed to contain watertight safes. The British-flagged Bayesian superyacht was carrying 22 people when it capsized and sank within minutes of being hit by a fierce storm.
