NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Police arrested a suspect in the robbery of a former parliamentarian and his wife during a roadblock, a Supreme Court jury heard.

Brenville Hanna, 25, is accused of the August 13, 2021 armed robbery of Ruben Rahming and Natasha Rahming. At the time of the robbery, Mr Rahming was the sitting FNM MP for Pinewood.

They were robbed of $485 cash, a cellphone, and a watch outside of their home in Eastern New Providence.

Police arrested Hanna around 9:45pm. on the day in question when he approached a curfew roadblock at Bernard and Soldier Roads in a black Honda Fit.

Police allegedly found an unfired .40 round of ammunition on the passenger seat of the car.

Hanna, who is on bail, is on trial for armed robbery and possession of ammunition.

He has denied the allegations at his trial before Justice Neil Brathwaite.
