Suspect Charged With Deadly Gilda Street Double Shooting

NASSAU, BAHAMAS -A 21-year-old man has been charged after a man was killed and another injured during a shooting. 

Nassau Village resident Samuel Higgs is accused of the March 24 murder of Paul Cox and the attempted murder of Dominic Watson. 

The victims were in front of a home on Gilda Street when two gunmen opened fire on them. 

Cox and Watson were rushed to hospital, where Cox died. Higgs wasn’t required to enter pleas to charges of murder and attempted murder when he appeared before Chief Magistrate Roberto Reckley. 

Bail was denied and he’s back in court on May 30 to receive voluntary bill of indictment papers.
