NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The Bahamas Protected Areas Fund’s “Protecting the Gold of our Natural Resources” campaign hopes to raise $30 million over the next five years to help support the management of the country’s protected areas.

The fund’s Chairman, Glenn Bannister says the financial burden brought on by climate change is one the government shouldn’t be expected to shoulder alone.

The Bahamas Protected Areas Fund has issued over $1.2 million in grants, financing things like mangrove and coral restorations, invasive species removal, and solar power system installments.

BPAF’s Vice-Chairman Rupert Hayward has this to say on the value of our protected areas.
