NASSAU, BAHAMAS – As the international press point a magnifying glass on the country’s crime issues, the tourism minister says he’s not concerned with the world’s view of what is happening locally. 

However, those within the tourism industry say they are already feeling the negative impacts of international travel advisories and security alerts.

That reaction, according to licensed taxi driver Jave Archer, has become the norm for taxi drivers as they attempt to solicit business from visitors. 

He, along with other frustrated taxi drivers in the downtown area say business has suffered since the release of a recent security alert from the us embassy…

Drivers, Joel Johnson and Leonard Carroll say several tourists have shared with them the advisories being issued on board the various cruise ships. 

These visitors telling Our News that passengers are indeed concerned by the travel advisories and are opting to stay on board or within the cruise port.

However, they added that their experiences have been positive.

Archer and his colleagues are calling on government intervention to clear up the image of The Bahamas. As they say, it is affecting their income and they simply want to earn an honest living.
