Taylor Adds Silver In The 50M Free

SINGAPORE – Lamar Taylor has added another medal to his haul at the 2025 Junior Pan American Games in Asunción, Paraguay.

A day after winning bronze in the men’s 100m freestyle, Taylor touched the wall in 22.11 seconds to claim silver in the 50m freestyle.

He holds the national record of 22.05 seconds, set earlier this year at the Bahamas Aquatics Federation National Championships and repeated at the World Aquatics Championships in Singapore.

Also competing in the men’s 50m free, Marvin Johnson tied for first in the ‘B’ final with Cristian Ramos of the Dominican Republic at 23.05 seconds, while Zoe Williamson finished 20th overall in the women’s 50m free with 27.56 seconds.

Team Bahamas to Face Nicaragua in FIBA AmeriCup Scrimmages
Team Bahamas is set to take the court tonight against host nation Nicaragua in the first of two training camp scrimmages at the Alexis Arguello Sports Center, starting at 8:30 PM local time. The second matchup is scheduled for August 16.

Coach Lourawls Nairn Jr. makes his debut leading a roster that includes Isaiah Mobley, also making his national team debut. In the official group stage, The Bahamas will face the U.S. on August 23, Brazil on August 24, and Uruguay on August 26. The top two teams from each group, along with the two best third-place teams, will advance to the quarter-finals.

Manos Wins Sunfish Bahamas Nationals
The Sunfish Bahamas National Championships took place last weekend in Montague Bay, with Tanaj Manos of the Exuma Sailing Club claiming the title after winning three of six races. This marks the second consecutive national crown for a sailor from the Exuma Sailing Club.

Manos scored 7 points, followed by Mary Jac Nash (top junior and top girl) with 12 points. Drake Knowles of Long Island finished third overall on a tie-break at 16 points, while Gavin McKinney of the Nassau Yacht Club also had 16 points, earning top master honors. Manos and Nash will represent the Bahamas at the Sunfish Pre-CAC Qualifier in Las Calderas Bay, Dominican Republic, from August 29–31.

Knowles Leads Sioux City Explorers to Playoffs
D’Shaun Knowles has been a driving force for the Sioux City Explorers in the American Association of Professional Baseball, recording his 214th stolen base of the season to set a new league record. The Explorers (54-29) edged the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks (47-36) 2-1 to clinch the league’s first playoff berth.

Since mid-July, Knowles has hit .438 with nine extra-base hits, 23 RBI, and 23 stolen bases over 23 games, powering the Explorers’ run toward the postseason.
