GRENADA – It was a third place finish for Team Bahamas on the medal table, the real story is how we got there on night three.

The Bahamas finished with 30 medals, eight gold, 12 silver and 10 bronze.

Emmile Higgins led the charge with a gold medal run in the under-17 boys 200 meters, blasting to victory in 20.98 seconds, while Zion Bradford joined him on the podium with bronze in 21.54.

In the field, Jazae Johnson continued her dominant meet, leaping to gold in the under-17 girls triple jump with a mark of 12.19 meters.

Over the hurdles, Jahcario Wilson delivered silver in the under-20 boys 110 meters in 13.53 seconds, while Shawne Ferguson III picked up bronze in the under-17 boys 110 meter hurdles in 14.30.

Back to the 200m, Keyezra Thomas claimed bronze in the under-17 girls 200 meters in 24.03, and Eagan Neely earned bronze in the under-20 boys 200 meters in 20.73.

In the throws, Tehja Thompson added a bronze medal in the under-20 girls discus with a throw of 38.92 meters.

The relays provided big moments for Team Bahamas, as the under-17 girls 4×400 team of Zara Fraser, Brianna Bootle, Nevaeh Mackey and Keyezra Thomas raced to silver in 3 minutes 44.39 seconds.

The under-17 boys 4×400 team of Va’ron Pinder, Aiden Musgrove, Avonte Lotmore and Zion Bradford also claimed silver in 3:13.81.

And the under-20 girls 4×400 squad of Syrmiah Crawley, Kei-Marie Hanna, Saige Demeritte and Alexis Roberts added another silver medal, stopping the clock in 3:37.92.

Jamaica won their 40th straight title with 71 gold, 28 silver and 16 bronze, while Trinidad and Tobago was second with nine gold, 11 silver and 15 bronze.

Team Bahamas swim success continues at CARIFTA

MARTINIQUE – Another big night for Team Bahamas as the medal haul continued at the 39th CARIFTA Games in Martinique.

Picking up her first medal at her first CARIFTA Games was Star Seymour in the girls 11-12 50m breast.

At the beginning of the night, team captain Tristen Hepburn told me he was picking up a gold in the 50m breast as well, well, he did just that.

Christon Joseph continued to excel on night three picking up several more gold medals for Team Bahamas.

Kimaya Saunders, Tiah Seymour and Lelah Lewis added to the medal count as well, all picking up bronze medals for Team Bahamas in the girls 50m breast, 100m free and 200m fly respectively.
