Team Bahamas Dominates Davis Cup Play

TRINIDAD & TOBAGO – Team Bahamas’ tennis team went undefeated in the Davis Cup, securing promotion, while the Mets lost to the Brewers, and Chisholm’s Yankees won. In the minors, Robinson, Walcott, and Lewis had mixed performances.

TRINIDAD & TOBAGO – Team Bahamas’ National Men’s Tennis Team had an impressive run at the Davis Cup tournament this past week, going undefeated in group play to reach the knockout round.

They continued their dominance yesterday, defeating host nation Trinidad and Tobago 2-0. The squad, made up of Denali Nottage, Michael Major Jr., Donte Armbister, and Kofi Kyle Bowe, and coached by John Antonas, improved to 4-0 with both matches won in straight sets.

With the win, the Bahamas will be promoted out of Group Four of the Americas Zone next year.

In a statement, Bahamas Lawn Tennis Association’s Perry Newton said, “This achievement speaks volumes about the fortitude, resilience, and unwavering determination of our players.”

BAHAMIANS IN THE MAJORS AND MINORS

In Major League Baseball, Coach Antoan Richardson and the New York Mets fell 7-4 to the Milwaukee Brewers, with Starlin Marte and Juan Soto both hitting home runs.

Jazz Chisholm had the night off as his New York Yankees beat the Houston Astros 5-4.

In the minors, Kristian Robinson went 1-3 with a double, but his Reno Aces lost 5-4 to the Tacoma Rainiers.

Sebastian Walcott went 0-5 as his Frisco RoughRiders were defeated 6-5 by the Arkansas Travelers. Ian Lewis went 0-3 but stole two bases as the Beloit Sky Carp beat the Quad City River Bandits 2-0.
