NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A heartbreaking tragedy has left the small community of Bimini grieving after a 15-year-old died in a devastating car accident over the weekend.

The accident happened just after midnight on King’s Highway in Bailey Town, Bimini.

According to police reports, the teen  was driving  a silver Mitsubishi Colt when he lost control of the vehicle and collided with a parked flatbed truck outside a local business.

The tragedy has left the Johnson family reeling.

His aunt, Valerie Sweeting, telling me his nickname was “Jaja.”

She says it’s a term of endearment for a young man who, by all accounts, brightened the lives of those around him.

Sweeting says the family had just spent the holiday together.

She insists this tragedy hits even harder, as it reopens wounds from a similar loss her family endured more than a decade ago.
