Hometown Heroes Advance to 2-0

Nassau, NP, The Bahamas. The raucous hometown crowd that filed into the National Beach Soccer Stadium got a treat last night. The Bahamas beat Belize 6-2 in CONCACAF round-robin play.

Coming off a sudden death thriller on Monday night, this game was a bit less dramatic with the home team going up 2-0 in the first period, thanks to goals from James Thompson and Jean Francois.

Belize’s Kenyon Martinez kept it close, scoring a goal in the first and another in the 2nd after Thompson added a second goal on a penalty kick. But they would be the only scores for Belize on the night.
Kyle Williams went on to add a goal with 4 minutes left in the game, pretty much securing the win for team 242.

Evelt Julemis put the nails in Belize’s coffin scoring two goals in the last minute, the first on a penalty kick and the final goal in free play to beat the buzzer, sending the local crowd into a frenzy.

The Bahamas has a tough matchup on its hands tomorrow taking on another 2-0 team, Mexico.

The game starts at 7:30pm. Entry is free as always.
