NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The Bahamas beat the Dominican Republic Friday night at the Caribbean Baseball Cup by an outlandish 29-0.

The most ridiculous part, the game was only 5 innings long.

The Bahamas’ colossal blowout started early with a 13-run first inning, adding 7 in the third and 5 in the fourth, never stopping for a second.

The Bahamas did all that scoring on 10 hits. They were walked an astounding 17 times and the DR had 7 passed balls.

Toby Simmons and Daunte Stuart led the way for Team Bahamas. Simmons went 2-5 with a double and 2 RBI, and he scored 5 runs.

Stuart had a double, 4 RBI, and he scored three himself.

Ellison Hanna went yard in as well.

Team Bahamas may have scored 29 runs, but 28 of those were icing on the cake because pitcher Tyreek Sherman put on an absolute masterclass on the mound, going the distance for a shutout, giving up only two hits along the way.

Curacao also beat Saint Maarten 7-1 yesterday.

With the win, The Bahamas is 2-0 in group play, tied for first place with Curacao.

Basketball

Rhema Collins went off last night for the FIU Panthers. The forward from New Providence dropped 40 points on 16-21 shooting and she went a perfect 7-7 from the charity stripe to help her squad get a 103-92 conference win over Georgia State.

Her teammate and compatriot, Denika Lightbourne, had 3 points and 4 rebounds as well.

In the association, Deandre Ayton and the Lakers fell 126-105 to the Boston Celtics, coming off a back-to-back. He had 6 points but he lead the team with 10 rebounds.

Lebron nor Luka played in that one, but Austin Reaves continued his ’05 Kobe impersonation.

He dropped 33 points, and dished out 8 assists, which I believe disqualifies it from being a Kobe impersonation.

Klay Thompson took a break from Megan the Stallion’s cooking to get washed by the Oklahoma City Thunder 132-111. He only had 3 in this one.

Jaden Hardy, whoever that is, led the team with 23 off the bench.

Then, VJ Edgecombe and the Philadelphia 76ers got their 2nd straight on back-to-back nights, and it wasn’t nearly as stressful as Thursday’s win. It was 116-101 over the probably soon to be Giannis-less Milwaukee Bucks.

The rook from Bimini had 12 points on 4-8 shooting and he made 2 threes to go with 4 rebounds in the win.

Quentin Grimes had 22 off the bench, and Paul George looks like he still has something left in the tank. He had 20 points, 5 assists, and 5 rebound.
