Back in 2017, Hurricane Maria severely impacted puerto rico, destroying infrastructure and leaving many without power for months.

Its destruction claimed 2,982 lives and caused $91.6 billion in damages.

2017 also saw the destruction of Hurricane Irma nicknamed “Irmageddon.” Irma ripped through the Caribbean and Florida with record-breaking power.

It killed around 134 people and caused $77.2 billion in damage.

Five years earlier in 2012 it was another deadly hurricane. Hurricane Sandy made landfall near Atlantic City. It ravaged 24 states with 110 mph winds, leaving parts of New York City flooded and without power.

The storm killed 233 people and caused $65 billion in damages.

In 2005, it was Hurricane Katrina. This hurricane has been recorded as one of the most catastrophic storms.

It flooded New Orleans due to failed levees, left 1,833 dead, and caused $161 billion in damage. The hurricane also triggered 33 tornadoes.

In 1900, it was the Galveston Hurricane. The deadliest natural disaster in U.S. history, this storm decimated Galveston, Texas, leaving up to 12,000 people dead and destroying 10,000 homes, damages total $30 million at the time.
