NASSAU, BAHAMAS – It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas, and that means toy drives are starting up again. But, there’s one thing that sets this upcoming story’s toy drive apart, their goal is to have gifts for every child on Cat Island.

The Gift of Giving in Paradise has an ambitious goal this holiday season – to get presents in the hands of all 200 pre and primary school aged children on Cat Island.

Launched by the Performing Arts School Bahamas Artist Movement (BAM), non-profit organization Roots of Change, co-organizers Rowena Poitier-Sutherland and Melissa Allen-Maynard share what inspired the project.

And, it’s quite the operation, with sponsors like Aliv and Kelly’s participating where you can donate at Kelly’s checkout for the toy drive.

Although The Gift of Giving in Paradise is not a government initiative, they’ve attracted an impressive list of supporters and government collaborators, expanding The Gift of Giving to teens as well to make sure no one is left behind.

The initiative even has its very own seafaring Santa in Mr. Martin Butler of bonded excursions.

You can donate at Kelly’s between now and December 7th. While the initiative has a long list of generous sponsors and collaborators, the duo are quick to add that no donation is too small.
