NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Then University of The Bahamas announced the resignation of its president Dr. Erik Rolland citing personal family reasons Wednesday.

In a local daily in March last year, Education Minister Glenys Hanna-Martin, following Rolland’s appointment, shared that she expects a Bahamian to be appointed to the top post at the institution in “short order.”

Chair of the Board of Trustees at the University of The Bahamas Allyson Maynard-Gibson says as an independent entity, the university still seeks to accomplish its goals, as leaders come and go.

With former president of the then College of The Bahamas Janyne Holder appointed as acting president until July 2025, the king’s counsel is confident in her abilities to continue the mission.
