NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The countdown to Christmas is on, and toy stores are feeling the holiday rush.

As parents work to check off wish lists, retailers say several must-have toys are standing out this season.

With Christmas just days away, the pressure is on for parents hoping Santa delivers.

From big-ticket toys to classic family games and the latest gadgets, stores across the capital are seeing a last-minute rush as shoppers hunt for the perfect gift.

At Janaee’s Christmas Wonderland, aisles are packed and wish lists are long.

Store manager Martha Wallace says certain items are clearly leading sales.

“They like these Jeeps you see behind us and the bicycles, the gasoline ride-ons. These are the most popular sellers this year.”

Wallace says steady customer traffic shows parents are determined to stretch their dollars while still putting smiles on their children’s faces.

She says competitive pricing has helped keep shoppers coming through the doors.

“We did our Crazy Monday for the full month of November. So we had up to 40% off. Those persons were shopping early. They were really shopping early this year. But of course, government payday just went the other day, so we are getting those customers in now.”

Wallace says many families are also focused on gifts that bring everyone together.

“You can get a 16-inch bicycle for $118, a nice ride-on car for $240. You’re cooking with gas when you talk about all the stuff you have here today. We have toys for every age. We have bicycles from 26-inch right down to the 16-inch. We have gasoline bicycles, four-wheelers to ride on and these nice Jeeps. I wish I could fit in, especially that limousine.”
