NASSAU , THE BAHAMAS – The Progressive Liberal Party was officially in campaign mode on Monday night.

They unveiled the party’s election machine in front of a packed Baha Mar Convention Center.

Prime Minister and Party Leader, Philip Davis touted what he calls the next phase for The Bahamas if re-elected, but still did not say when Bahamians will head to the polls.

As the party pushes its message, “Choose progress”,our Sasha Lightbourne took us inside the pomp, the pageantry and the political theatre.

The blasting of horns, waving of flags and the entrance of all 41 ratified candidates, set the tone for what became a nearly three-hour, Progressive Liberal Party campaign launch.

From the moment candidate filed into the ballroom, supporters were on their feet, chanting and recording every step.

At times the atmosphere felt more like Clifford Park or R.M. Bailey Park, than a formal political meeting.

Inside every seat was taken and standing space was barely available.

Whilst the prime minister laid out his party’s vision for a second term, including continued investment and economic growth, he did not say when voters will be called to the polls.

Party officials say another major event will follow after the easter season.

The moment designed to cap the night was all 41 candidates returning to the stage and joining Prime Minister Philip Davis, shoulder to shoulder – a visual show of unity.
