NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A local children’s home appealing for help, as it battles with the rising cost of living. Despite a recent generous donation – the operators of the Ranfurly Home are finding it increasingly difficult to remain operational. Joshua Williams reports.

The Ranfurly Homes for Children needs your help.

First opened in the 1950s, after a group of homeless children was taken in by Hermione, Countess of Ranfurly, following a fire in downtown Nassau, the home remained open through private donations and government support.

Fast forwarding some 70 years later, the home’s president, Joey Premock says the needs are greater now – more than ever.

Even getting these kids to school is a on-going challenge.

Just recently, the Cable Bahamas Group of Companies, donated over $6,000 to the home to replace 6 air conditioning units.

Premock is hoping more corporate entities get involved at this level.
