PERU – A major wildlife trafficking attempt foiled in Lima as customs officials seize 4,001 live turtles destined for Indonesia.

The turtles, including critically endangered South American river turtles, were inaccurately documented for export.

Authorities say they discovered discrepancies in species identification and age.

Peru’s National Forestry and Wildlife Service highlighting its ongoing battle against illegal wildlife trade, with monkeys, turtles, and parrots among the targets.
