Tim Munnings Takes Gold In 400m At World Masters

SWEDEN – Olympic medalist Tim Munnings finished at the top of the podium at the World Masters Athletics Championships in Gothenberg, Sweden on Saturday.

SWEDEN – Olympic medalist, Tim Munnings, finished at the top of the podium at the World Masters Athletics Championships in Gothenberg, Sweden on Saturday.

Munnings won the 400m in the age 55 division in 53.05 seconds.  He also claimed the bronze in 200m in the same age division in a time of 23.83 seconds. 

For those who may not know, World Masters Athletics is the worldwide governing body for the sport of masters athletics – which includes track and field, cross country, and road running events – participated in by people over 35 years of age.

Both Jazz Chisholm of the Yankees and Jonquel Jones of the Liberty competed on their home turf Saturday in New York. 

Jazz went 2-4 with a double and an rbi in front of his childhood heroes on Old Timers’ Day. 

It wasn’t enough as the Yanks fell to the Colorado Rockies 9-2. 

JJ and the Liberty also fell to her former team the Connecticut Sun 72-64 for only their fifth loss of the season. 

She had 10 points and eight rebounds. The Liberty now sit at 25-5 for the season.
