THE BAHAMAS – On this day in Bahamian history in 1978, British Rock Musician Peter Frampton, was nearly killed in an automobile accident while in The Bahamas.

It was a rainy day, when the musician fell asleep while driving and crashed into a roadside wall then slammed into a massive tree.

Frampton was going into shock but was luckily saved by a young John George who is now the CEO of George Enterprises.

Frampton suffered broken bones, muscle damage and a concussion but made a full recovery and continued his singing career.

And finally on June 29th, 2015 – Baha Mar Limited, the developer of the Baha Mar Resort on Cable Beach filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in the district of Delaware in the United States.

In a statement, Baha Mar said its board of directors had determined that due to the financial consequences of repeated delays and the resulting loss of revenue, Chapter 11 was the best path forward.

A letter to employees signed by CEO Sarkis Izmirlian said he would not give up.

On December 12th, 2016, Hong Kong conglomerate Chow Tai Fook Enterprises confirmed its purchase of the unfinished resort.
