NASSAU, BAHAMAS – On this day in Bahamian history, in 2018, a probe was launched into three fires at the Clifton Pier and Blue Hills Power Stations.

Those fires left the power company with two units down and the customers with high light bills.

Then BPL Chairman Donovan Moxey said insurers were evaluating the damage.

….

Then in 2020 health officials reported a 50 percent decrease in COVID-19 cases.

Chief Medical Officer Dr. Pearl McMillan attributed the decline to restrictive measures introduced in New Providence and Abaco a month earlier.

….

Then in 2023, five candidates were nominated to contest the West Grand Bahama and Bimini by-election. The seat was left vacant after member of parliament Obie Wilchcombe passed away in September of that year.

The candidates included the Free National Movement’s Ricardo Grant, Coalition of Independents Leader Lincoln Bain, independent candidates Terneille Burrows and Daquan Swain as well as the Progressive Liberal Party’s  Kingsley Smith.

Smith would later win the seat after residents cast votes during the November 22nd, 2023 by-election.
